HEALTH & SAFETY POLICY
OBLIGATIONS
HAMESH is firmly committed to a policy enabling all work activities to be carried out safely, and with all possible measures taken to remove (or at least reduce) risks to the health, safety and welfare of Shed members, authorised visitors, and anyone else who may be affected by our operations.
We are committed to compliance with Health and Safety Regulations and other applicable codes of practice as far as reasonably possible.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Committee of Management:
Will provide and maintain as far as possible:
To avoid injury to themselves, others and damage to plant and equipment.
Each member has an obligation to:
1. a.Take reasonable care of their own health and safety and the health and safety of others.
b. Wear personal protective equipment and clothing where necessary.
c. Comply with any direction given by the management committee in relation to health and safety.
d. Not to misuse or interfere with anything provided in the interest of health and safety.
2. Report and record all accidents and incidents immediately; no matter how trivial.
3. Report all known or observed hazards to the management committee.
4. In the event of an accident.
a. Switch off power to appliance if applicable.
b. Determine the seriousness of the injury and take appropriate actions. If in any doubt call 999 and inform office in Meridian Centre.

APPLICATION OF THIS POLICY
We seek the co-operation of all members and visitors. We encourage suggestions in realising our health and safety objectives to create a safe environment with a zero accident rate.

RULES & REGULATIONS
All joining Members shall be inducted and be required to sign their agreement to abide by these Rules and Regulations of occupation of the Premises enjoyed under lease from the Meridian Centre.
Members agree that failure to do so could result in suspension of membership, also that notification of suspension could be shared with any other Men's Shed in the UK.
Rules and regulations are as follows:

MEMBER’S AGREEMENT
1. PREAMBLE
1.1. Each member of HAMESH must agree and adhere to rules and regulations as from time to time determined by the
Management Committee;
1.2. The member named below hereby agrees by signature to the conditions applying to membership of HAMESH.
2. AGREEMENT
2.1.To abide by the rules and regulations set out by the HAMESH Havant Town Centre Men’s Shed and understand that my failure to do so
could result in my suspension of membership, which could be passed on to any other Men's Shed in the UK.
3. RULES AND REGULATIONS
3.1. No alcohol to be consumed on any part on the premises. No member will be allowed to attend the premises under the influence of alcohol
or drugs.
3.2. Smoking is not allowed in any part of the premises.
3.3. Before any member uses machinery they must undertake a proficiency assessment and have signed consent to use a particular piece of
machinery.
3.4. All members have a duty of care to other members and must behave in such a manner so as not to compromise any member’s safety.
3.5. Any work area including the kitchen must be left in a reasonably clean state and above all SAFE for other members.
3.6. The last member leaving the shed must make sure all electrical machinery and lights are switched off and the premises are locked securely.

- No smoking is allowed anywhere within the Premises
- Before any member uses machinery they will have to undertake a proficiency assessment and have signed consent to use a particular, piece of machinery.
- All members have a duty of care to other each other and should behave in such a manner so as not to compromise the safety of any other members.
- Any work area including the workshop, meeting room, kitchen, toilets and corridors must be left in a reasonably clean state and above all SAFE for use by other members.
- It is the responsibility of the last member leaving the Premises to make sure that all electrical machinery and lights are switched off and the Premises and exterior doors are locked.
- It is not permitted for any member or visitor to stay overnight in any part of the shed.
